Social media is killing our country

Have you heard about Rohingya Refugee Crisis in Myanmar ?. This is considered as one of the worst humanitarian disasters in modern world history. Thousands of people were killed and sunk in the cold  South China Sea. According to officials UN Investigation, Facebook played a major role by spreading hate speech and fake news that provoked the Burmese people to hate their Rohingya counterpart.

I am from Anti Social Media Movement , Im here to propose that Indonesian Government should ban every social media before its too late. I’ll give you three main reasons why having a social media account is the worst thing you can do. I will only speak for six minutes, so please hold your questions until the end.

The first reason why social media is poisonous is because it will continuously bombard you with the same information and topic once you are interested in it. We don’t know whether the information we read is true or not, but we will just believe it because we read it over and over everyday.  And unfortunately most of the information you read is designed to misguide and mislead the truth. For example...let's say once you read a negative article about someone, let say a politician, or president, Ganti president for example, at first you won’t be so serious about that, but after several clicks, some fake news later, you are going to be really mad at that person, even though they haven’t done anything wrong. That is an example of how strong social media can manipulate the human brain.  Get rid of social media..., you don’t want your brain to be controlled by mindless machine, do you?  That covers the first reason...

The second reason is because social media will consume all the time you have...of course it will.  social media companies hire the best psychologists from all around the world  to make their product addictive to everyone, and people wont realize how dependable they become. Kids, Teenagers, Students, Workers, everyone who is exposed will be addicted to it. Students wont have enough time to study... Teenagers wont have time to socialize...  Parents will ignore their children, Shop keepers will ignore their customers. Everyone is infected, do you remember the old saying “ Time is money”, which means that time is the most valuable resource on earth.  By using social media you will constantly lose numerous amount of your time without any benefit.  Imaginr all the time we will have to be more productive without social media.  That's all for the 2nd reason.

Third reason is because social media will affect your focus and priority. Social media is not really free..In contrast it may cost your future because it drains your attention till the last drop. To achieve your success in life one of the most importan things is your concentration to pursue it...a combination of focus and discipline is vital. Let say a university student who plans to graduate on time...if he constantly gives likes to every celebrity on istagram, being provoked by unimportant endless debatable subject on facebook, reading everyone's comments from president to cats , or trans celebrities, there will be a very high chance that this student would not have enouh time to work on his grades and graduate on time. Therw are so many distractions that prevent us from our goals, and with social media distractions become addictions. We have become addicted to these distractions. Indonesia is a developing country that still need a lot of improvement on many aspects and levels. How could we expect the young generation to grow and solve these problem if all that matter for them is the likes on their facebook status.  As you can see, without social media, we will have more focus and attention to our goals...and this is qll for the third reason.

 

So to summarize I have emphasized the three main reasons why social media could cause serious harm to society and our country...and obviously the best solution to stop this cancerous machine is by completely banning and shutting down internet access to all forms of social media completely, forever, before its too late ,and cause more damages. “Every form of addiction is bad, no matter wether it is narcotics, alcohol, morphine , or instagram likes, they are all just the same drugs”.
